Sensei Currie has been practicing Ju-Jitsu for almost two decades beginning his training with the World Ju-Jitsu Federation in Scotland (Great Britain) in 1989.

It was as part of the UKJJF that he met, became friends with, and became a student of Shihan Billy Doak 8th dan Ju-Jitsu/4th Dan Judo, and when Shihan Doak decided to separate his Association, the Goshin Ju-Jitsu Association UK~Wales from the UKJJF, the Scottish clubs went with him as his representatives in Scotland.

Over the following years Sensei Currie continued to train under the guidance of Shihan Doak and achieved his 2nd Dan Black belt in 1998, and 3rd Dan Black Belt in 2002.

The Goshin Ju-Jitsu Association Spain
is a small club based in the Costa Del Sol, Spain, teaching the Japanese Martial Art of Ju-Jitsu.

After relocating to Spain in late 2004, and with the permission of his Sensei, the late Shihan Billy Doak of the Goshin Ju-Jitsu Association UK, Sensei Currie immediately started to lay the groundwork to open a Goshin Ju-Jitsu Dojo in Southern Spain.

The associations first class was opened in July 2005 and there is now 3 classes running per week.

We are a strictly non-political organisation dedicated to developing a greater appreciation of the art and to actively promote it as a means of self defense and personal development.

Our group of clubs includes the Scottish Goshin Jitsu Academy also founded by Sensei Currie and now controlled by Sensei John R. Smith (2nd Dan). John was the first of Sensei Curries students to gain his black belt and took over the running of the clubs in Scotland when Sensei Currie moved to Spain. Sensei Currie continues to support him in the running of the Scottish clubs.

We regularly travel over to the UK to practice with them and also with our parent association, the Goshin Ju-Jitsu association UK, giving our students an opportunity to train under some of the most highly regarded teachers in Europe in all styles of Martial Arts including Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Judo, and Aikido.

Sport or Combat?
Traditional Ju-Jitsu is not a Sport.
It is a Military Combat Art which originally began its development over 2000 years ago by the Bushi, or Warrior class of Ancient Japan. It is these origins that make it so effective as a form of self defense.

What type of techniques does it include ...
Students learn a wide range of techniques including Kicking and Punching, Grappling and Throwing, all of which were used by the Samurai in ancient times but these techniques are in no way obsolete or out of date. Due to constant updating and development they are as applicable and practical today as they were all those years ago.

The Use of Weapons in Ju-Jitsu ...
Ju-Jitsu is primarily a hand to hand art however a basic understanding of the weapons arts is necessary in order to be proficient. Students however should not make the mistake of thinking that they will become expert in the use of weapons by studying Ju-Jitsu, at best they will only gain a basic appreciation in order to learn the principles of how to defend from an armed attack.
