What is Ju-Jitsu?
Ju-Jitsu as an art, is reputed to be over 2000 years old and is repeatedly mentioned in Japanese folklore and historical records. The art that is recognised today was developed by the Bushi, later to be known as the Samurai, as a means of defense when they were dismounted from their horses and separated from their weapons.

As a result these elite soldiers of feudal Japan, who were best known for their skill with the Katana (sword), became extremely proficient in hand to hand combat. The hand to hand techniques employed by each clan were continuously refined and eventually they began to form schools or Ryu to ensure that their troops were as effective on the battlefield as possible. These schools were the basis of modern Ju-Jitsu clubs the world over.

Our Dojo is open to all

Although we don't yet have a dedicated Kids Club,
we welcome students of all ages and levels, from complete beginner to expert.
